Joseph Whipps Stanford was born about 1715
in Dorchester
County, Maryland. He also married a
Suzannah Whipps,
about 1737. He patented 50 acres of land in 1746.
He sold
land to William Stanford in Wicomico County
in 1754 and
1772. In 1760 he sold land in Somerset County,
Maryland.
He gave 11 1/2 acres to his son Jonathon and
69 acres to his
son David in 1772.

The children of Joseph Whipps Stanford and Suzannah Whipps were:
Thomas Stanford was born about 1738.
Joshua
Whipps Stanford was born October 28, 1740 in
Chesapeake Bay County, Maryland. He married Mary
Rook
in 1765 in Maryland. Joshua served
under Captain Samuel
Bradford in the1st Duxbury Company of Militia
of Colonel
Warren's (Plymouth Company) Regiment, which
marched on
the Alarm of April 19, 1775. He received
a land Grant for Private,
on the Georgia Line. His DAR ID # is 118585
Maryland. He
purchased land March 6, 1797 in Wicomico County,
Maryland.
He sold his land in Wicomico County, Maryland
on November 3
and 6, 1802. It is believed that he left
for Georgia shortly afterwards.
He purchased land on Upson Creek in Georgia in
1805. He died
about May 1, 1826 in Warren County, Georgia.
His will was
probated May 4, 1826 in Warren County, Georgia.
Jonathan Stanford was born about 1744.
Joseph Stanford
David V Stanford was born about 1748.
