The first record we can find on the Brewton's are two brothers, whose names are unknown. One brother married an Isabelle. The only information we have on the other is one of his sons, Benjamin. So.... the beginning of this page may be a little confusing.
The children of Unknown Brewton and Isabelle ? were:
Joseph
Brewton was born in 1768 in North Carolina.
Joseph married Elizabeth Pringle.
They lived in Kentucky,
Tennessee, and Marengo County, Alabama.
Benjamin Brewton was born in 1769 in North
Carolina.
Benjamin married Jemima
Johnson. He died in October
of 1863 in Alabama.
Nathan
Brewton was born in North Carolina. Nathan
married Nancy Fontaine who was Jemima
Johnson's
daughter. They lived in Tattnall County,
Georgia.
Cecelia Brewton
The son of the other Unknown Brewton was:
Benjamin
Brewton who was born May 27, 1761 in Dobbs,
Lenoir County, North Carolina.
Benjamin married Charlotte.
They lived in Charleston, South Carolina from
1786-1800.
Then from 1800-1819 they lived in Richmond and
Montgomery
County, Georgia. In 1819 they show up in
Conecuh County,
Alabama. And in 1831 they have a Choctaw
Purchase in Sumter
County, Alabama. Benjamin served
in the Revolutionary War.
He died in 1842 in Sumter County, Alabama.
